A guide for your guide
Get comfortable with your gym, one machine at a time.
Your first visit
- Sign in with your existing GymPilotIQ account.
- Complete your profile, including your current weight and target.
- Set your goals and training preferences.
- Search Machines, or choose a photo to identify.
- Check the match, read the setup and safety notes, then add it to My Gym.
Safety comes first
GymPilotIQ provides general fitness information, not medical advice or a guarantee an exercise is safe for you. It cannot see your form or determine an appropriate resistance.
Get professional clearance before starting a new program if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are recovering from injury or surgery. Ask a qualified trainer to check unfamiliar equipment. Warm up and stop immediately if anything hurts.
What do the stars mean?
Stars rate a machine's fit for your goal, not the quality of the machine. Goal, experience, available time and equipment access affect the rating. The first selected goal drives your prescription.
The For you panel explains the reason, sets, reps, rest, effort, load selection and warm-up. Limitations may trigger conservative cautions, never medical clearance.
How do I take a useful photo?
Stand at a corner to include the front and one side. Get the whole machine, seat, weights and manufacturer label in frame. Avoid mirrors, bright backlighting and people.
Use Take a photo on supported phones, or choose an existing JPG, PNG or WebP. Export HEIC to JPG first. The image is resized in the browser before identification. A suggested match must be checked; it is not guaranteed correct. If there is no match, search the catalog manually.
Can I search in everyday language?
Yes. Try a machine name, "triceps", "bum", "love handles", or "best machine for my back". The same search, synonym index and goal ranking used by the desktop app run on the web server. Search does not incur an AI call.
Where is my data stored?
Your account profile, goals, profile photo and dated weight history use the same backend as desktop. Those changes are shared when clients refresh.
My Gym, its small saved photos, location notes, training preferences and display units are encrypted in this browser and keyed by your account. They do not sync with desktop or another browser. Clearing site data removes them. Signing out clears your login but retains your account-keyed gym for your next visit. Sign out before sharing a device.
Photo identification sends the selected equipment photo to the backend AI service. Do not include people or sensitive information.
Does this work offline or install as an iOS app?
This is a mobile-friendly website, not a native iOS build or an offline app. It requires an active connection to the web server and API. You can bookmark it or add a browser shortcut to your home screen, but the shortcut does not add offline support.
Safari camera behavior and permission prompts depend on your device. If the camera is unavailable, choose an existing photo. After a lost connection, allow the reconnect prompt to recover or reload the page; unsaved form edits can be lost.
How do I change or remove equipment?
Open My Gym. Edit location adds a recognizable hint such as "back wall, beside the cable station". Remove asks for confirmation. Start over clears only your browser's equipment list, not your account or weight history. Add the same machine again to update its photo without creating duplicates.
How does weight progress work?
Update weight on Home or Progress, or change weight in your profile. The API records dated measurements. Progress shows the latest value and its change from real older entries. It never invents a starting weight from the current profile.
Change display units on Profile. API values remain in kilograms and centimetres. Dates reflect your browser's timezone; older calendar-only check-ins keep their original day.
Why is there no workout plan, diet advice or watch connection?
Those features are deferred in the current desktop and web release. GymPilotIQ currently focuses on equipment education, personalized machine guidance and weight history. Preserved advisor code is not an available feature.

Something isn't working
Check your connection and retry. Expired sign-in requires signing out and in again. Storage errors can mean private-browser restrictions, blocked site storage or a full quota; changes are not reported as saved when persistence fails.
If a photo is misidentified, try a different angle with the label visible, or use manual search. If information appears incorrect, stop using that guidance and report the machine name and your selected goal to the app maintainer. Account entry and confirmation help are available on the public website.
